A gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown was the inspiration for Pam and Stewart’s wedding cake, which turned out to be on the short list of one of our all time favorites.

But, first we started with these….”ginger”breadmen bride and groom we made for the two red heads to go into the out-of-towners gift bags.

It’s such an honor to be voted by our peers in the Atlanta wedding industry to win the NACE Event Design Trends Competition, Cakes a second year!!  Thank  you!!

We were asked to do a cake with a contemporary Royal wedding feel for a photo shoot which gave us our idea after months of scratching our heads!  We used that cake as the “topper” for a Royal sized cake, adding flowers.  Tulips are the epitome of April, which is when THE wedding is taking place, so we felt they needed to be included in the design and the roses represent the traditional.

Laurie of Event Rentals Unlimited provided our table!

Walt Nemeth, The Georgian Terrace, President of NACE Atlanta, Sharon Sweet Sensations, Tamara I Do Linens who made the gorgeous linen and the trophy!

The Studio Wed group put together tables for the Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta and the NACE Event Design Trends Competition with the two themes of  Black Swan and Love Letters.  The two couldn’t be more different, but were both fabulous!  The Black Swan Vignette won “Best Gallery” awarded at the Bridal Extravaganza!!  Woot!

The Atlanta wedding industry is fantastic and we think we work with the best of the best at Studio Wed.  We love our collaborations…the end result to any event just amazes me!!

The members of these teams were Lemiga Events, The Savage Garden, Floral Couture, I Do Linens, Papered Wonders, Event Rentals Unlimited and Event Drapery.  We think every one “brought it”!!

The excitement started with one of our cakes named #11 on The Knot’s 50 Favorite Wedding Details of 2010!!!!  The great photo taken by Graceology did the trick!

Sweet Sensations will have cakes in five magazines to start the year off!!!  And,  Sharon has design trend ideas in a book!  More details to come.

Think I’ve mentioned, a time or two, how much we love doing first birthday cakes!  As all our cakes are custom designed, we take the most inspiration from party invitations.  In this case, we flat out duplicated it.  The design is beyond cute and so now!

Camden’s mom sent us photos to share with you.  Isn’t he just adorable!!!  Loving the face plant into the cake!

Way to go, Camden!!  That’s the Sweet Sensations attitude!

It is so intriguing, to me to see photographers in action, just the slighest move of the hand to change the angle can make such a huge difference in a good shot and a great shot!  I snapped these of Jeremy Harwell shooting for Atlanta Weddings magazine,  up at Montaluce Vineyards, awhile back….he was having so much fun with the couple…they had just been married and were so adorable!

Under my bed, growing up, was an open cardboard box filled with paper dolls.  Knowing my parents that box is still on their property, somewhere.  I was obsessed with paper dolls….love, love, loved them!

While chatting with Suzette of Brides, I let her know that we could create a wedding gown cake just as well as Buddy (Cake Boss).  TLC wanted him to be here to represent, but he was on his Italy trip.

The fabulous gown designer, Lazaro, created a gown (along with other great designers) just for Bridals by Lori’s 30th Anniversary/Say Yes to the Dress premier party. After receiving the sketch and some photos, we got to work on the “gown”…..we were asked at the party how many hours it took, more than I thought, it was almost 60 hours. All hands were on deck for this project!!

Our biggest concern was to be sure Bridals by Lori and Lazaro were happy with the finished product.  They were ecstatic!!!  Phew!!

The party was a celebration of Bridals by Lori 30th Anniversary!!!  The “garter” next to the cake had a “30″ on it and the cupcakes, too!
