Deco Cake Boss inpired cake

The bride brought in a photo of a cake Buddy Valastro of Carlo’s Bakery (Cake Boss) did for a magazine shoot.  It’s a beautiful design…this was shortened by two tiers, but still makes a stunning cake.  Her invitations had a hot pink strip on it, hence the color of the bows.   The bonus…the bride saw it and squealed with delight!

Deco SKANSKA building cake

Sweet Sensations had the honor of  ”building” a cake for a topping out party of the Dr. Robert L. Wright Jr Health Science Center building in Columbus, GA.  The project manager, David Hansmann is shown in the photos and in this television interview and there is a nice article with photos.

It took a lot of Ana’s blood, sweat and inner tears….

Deco Southern Weddings Magazine issue launch party!

COVERS2small (1)

This model was so perfectly captured by Jeremy Cowart…not easy to get sexy, demure, sweet, impish, etc in one shot!  We think she is absolutely stunning!

The gorgeous cover of Southern Weddings Magazine was the background inspiration for the launch party cake.  The invitation was for the decorations (biscuits and bow tie out of sugar).

Thank you to Jessica Gipe Marshall for the great photos of our cake!

Deco Scrapbook paper cake

Wishing I’d had a camera as I carried the wedding cake in…the bride was coming down the stairs and her eyes lit up with excitement when she saw it!  She loved it….we were hoping, but we always worry a smidge.

It started with a handful of scrapbook sheets…all sorts of retro looking designs with a ton of pattern.  The bride left them with us to design a cake with color.   A bridesmaid thought we cut up the paper to make the ribbon around the tiers it looked so much like the patterns!  Phew!
