Deco Fall wedding season…..

Is pretty much over with last weekend being the last bang.  October is our biggest wedding month of the year.  It’s the only month that is consistent with good weather.

One of our deliveries to Something Special has the wedding on the same site, so we were able to see the bride’s reaction to the cake.  Elizabeth was floored.  We always hope the bride will love her cake as much as we do.  The motif on the cake duplicated the laser cut-out on her invitations and was topped with sugarpaste chocolate cymbidium orchids, roses and calla lillies.  The design of the cake was similar to one done by Ron Ben-Israel that the bride had seen.  Virtu did the fresh flowers for the venue…fabulous, of course!

Here is a photo of Elizabeth King with her cake and me, Sharon.

The groom had to have a F2008 Ferrari for his groom’s cake.  Rachel did an edible version for the top of his cake.

Mrs. Pruitt called, emailed and mailed in everything to place the order….we didn’t get to meet until we delivered the cakes to Flat Creek!  Lara of Cameo Events was the wedding coordinator and Image Makers did the photography.

We made this stunning magnolia out of sugarpaste for the Thornton wedding cake topper.  The bride and groom met at work, Chik-Fil-A which is why there is a cow motif on the groom’s cake.  Mom found the bride and groom salt and pepper shaker cows to go on top!

A delivery to the Fabulous Fox Theatre was made for the Maxwell wedding.  A more rustic look was what the bride wanted with the roughed up icing.  Sugarpaste gerbera daisies and calla lillies decorated the cake.

Deco Engage ’08! The Encore

Sylvia Weinstock is an icon in the cake world.  She is known around the world for her towering cakes of sugar flowers.  I was lucky enough to meet her and receive a copy of her new book, “Sensational Cakes“…not even out!!

Engage ’08!  The Encore, was a b2b luxury wedding business symposium at the Ritz Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes moderated by Rebecca Grinnals (the force behind Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons ) of Engaging Concepts.  The group of people attending was fantastic!!  My mind is still in a whirl trying to digest it all.

One of my favorites is the fabulous Randy Fenoli.  Although he was already a huge name in the wedding gown design industry, he’s reaching a new audience as the Fashion Director of Kleinfeld which is featured on “Say Yes to the Dress“.  Randy has added a huge value to the show.  He’s just so lovable and adorable as well as amazingly talented!!

Kathryn Arce, Rebecca Grinnals  and team of Engaging Concepts did a wonderful job on the symposium.  I can’t describe it as well as Donna Von Bruening does on her blog.  Please check out her blog on it: http://www.dvbphoto.com/ .  Donna was the main inspiration to our blog.  She is a super writer and I love following her blog.

The team from Southern Weddings was so much fun!  I’m drawn to smiley people and they never stopped smiling!  Their first issue comes out in January…can’t wait.  Here is Lara, Laura and Kirstin.

Deco Bride and her cake

It’s not often we have the honor of seeing the bride when we deliver the cake because they’re, usually, getting ready or on the way to the church when we arrive at the reception site.  It was all in one at Flat Creek Country Club this time.  Guests were arriving two hours early and the bridal party was all ready to go, so we took photos!  Isn’t she gorgeous!??!

The bride, Brooke Tracey, is from New Orleans, so we have a fleur de lis theme for the cake.  Can’t wait to hear about the reception!!  Our buddies, Leo Laliberte (DJ) and Don Simmons (videographer) were there experiencing the fun…and, I’m sure, it was fun!!!

The groom’s cake was take on the UGA golfcourse, hole #13.  We have Uga chasing down a ball in the water.  The entire thing is edible.  The groom’s mom wanted something special for him!

Deco Zombie Chow

Zombie Chow is a good way to keep the Zombie’s away.  They’re goats brains (key lime cake covered in white chocolate and graham crackers) to be used to fake out the Zombies….they can’t tell the difference between that and human brains, so the Chow can save your life!!!!  This fun couple had their wedding at Dunaway Gardens.

Charles is a photographer and Emily is an amazing videographer.   Hover Video Productions is her company.  She did some videos for us and I can’t say enough about her.  Emily has a great eye, is so patient and detail oriented.  Just the type of person you want making a video or commercial for you.  So, anyway,….here are there wedding cakes!

Deco Outdoor wedding season!!!

It’s the time of year when it’s pretty safe to have an outdoor wedding.  Chance of rain is pretty slim.  The calla lilly cake was for the Couturier wedding delivered to Hills and Dales Estate in LaGrange, the butterfly cake to Dunaway Gardens for the Smith wedding.

And, the Piet wedding in their backyard in Peachtree City.

Deco Customer photos!

When Jack Richards was turning 5, he designed his Batman themed cake!  This is what his mom, Elizabeth, wrote:

“He loved it!  What a fabulous cake, it really made his day!!”

We loved help making it special for him!  Thank you…..

What a great way to send a thank you!  This photo was on the cardstock!  Here is what the note said:

“We cannot thank you enough for our wonderful cakes!  Months later, we are still receiving compliments on how wonderful the quality was of the cakes.  They looked unique & tasted even better.  We truly appreciated all of your suggestions & hospitality.  Thank you, also, for our ‘honeymoon’ cake.  It didn’t make it past the first night!

“Hi Ladies, great blog and beautiful cakes.  I’ve been so happy with the cakes you guys have done for us over the years and it’s that time again to order another but that order will come from a separate email.

Attached first is the circus tent cake you did for her 4th birthday, we had pony rides, carnival rides, 2 moon bounces and a clown.  The kids had a blast.

Second is the Tiffany box shaped cake you did for my best friend’s 30th.

And I feel so bad after reading you blog, I didn’t know the staff listens for reactions, we’re always so busy when we pick the cakes up, I forget to tell you guys how great the cakes are.  So please blame our minds, not our hearts, we truly appreciate the work you guys put into our cakes.

Your customer service is excellent, and the taste is always exquisite.    We recommend you to all our friends.

Warm Regards,
LaZanea (Mytchell’s Mom)”

Thank you!!
